		The Girls' Fund
		Invest in the future of girls by purchasing stock in the Girls' Growth Fund. Canada's first charitable IPO (Immediate Public Opportunity) issued by the Canadian Women's Foundation. Funds rasied for the Girls' Growth Fund will support programs across Canada that build self-esteem, critical thinking and leadership skills in girls who have the least access to opportunities. The Girls' Fund at Canadian Women's Foundation empowers girls aged 9 to 13, to grow up with confidence, to see themselves as leaders, to learn more about the world around them and to reach their fullest potential in life. The Girls' Fund supports initiatives that develop girls' leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making skills by engaging them in science and math, sports and physical activity and other leadership-building activities. Canadian Women's Foundation has granted funds to seven innovative programs, which represent the most promising approaches to building strong, resilient girls.

		Why Girls Need our Help:
		Growing up can be a painful experience. Girls, as a group, score significantly poorer than boys on many indicators, such as happiness, wanting to be someone else, feeling the need to lose weight, loneliness, depression and suicide attempts. * 48% of grade six girls reported that they were "very happy" about their life. By grade 10, only 26% of girls reported being very happy * 58% of girls in grade eight reported that they would change how they look if they could * 30% of girls in grade six and 55% of girls in grade ten were dieting or reported that they needed to lose weight * 23% of girls in grade six and 36% of girls in grade 10 reported being depressed at least once a week in the previous six months
